NEXT MATCH FOCUS : SIAM NAVY

Our next ‘home’ opponents, on Sunday 3rd August, are Siam Navy, sitting 2nd in Division 1, 10 points ahead of CMFC.

They won their last match very easily, 3-1, against Nakhom Pathom, never an easy team to beat this season.‘Ludo’vik Takam (No 20), scored a brace, and looked menacing throughout the match. Let’s look at some key facts about Siam Navy:

1. Navy are unbeaten at home this season : their only 3 losses, coming away from the Rayong Navy Stadium (losing at TTM, Saraburi and Trat, in what were very close matches).

2. The danger man for Navy is definitely Ludovik Takam (ex Chonburi, Phuket, Pattaya striker). He is only 1.64m tall, but he is a workhorse in attack. In 2010 TPL season, he was the top scorer in the Thai Premier League. He is supported by David Bahiha (both players are from Cameroons). CMFC will need a nimble defender, to keep him quiet : he can score goals with his head too, despite his height.

3. Their away form is reasonable, for a team challenging for the title (Won 5, Drawn 3, Lost 3), but most of their remaining matches are against ‘top half’ teams, so they do have a very difficult run in to their season, starting with this away tie against CMFC.

4. Siam Navy are one of the oldest clubs in Thailand. They were founded in 1937.

CONCLUSION

Just as was the case when Saraburi came to the 700 year stadium, earlier in the season, CMFC have proved that they can beat teams that are 2nd in the division. Provided that they can suppress the energy of ‘Ludo’, then they have a good chance of getting something from this game and avenging the 1-0 defeat to Navy, earlier in the season.

PREDICTION

A 2-1 win for CMFC might be possible, but can’t see it being a high scoring match.
