NEXT MATCH FOCUS : CMFC v Phitsanulok (23rd July 2014)

Untitled copy

This is a battle between 7th and 14th, but there are only 5 points separating them in the table. CMFC lost their last match, and Phitsanulok won their last match, so this is a hard one to call. Both teams need to win, to consolidate their respective positions, but CMFC will need to SIGNIFICANTLY up their performance from the last game. Let’s look at some stats :

1. PHITSANULOK achieved 17 points from their first 10 matches, but only 8 points in their next 11 matches. So they have been a team on the slide towards the relegation area.

2. PHITSANULOK won their mast match, which was at home to Nakhon Pathom, 2-1 (a team that had only lost 4 from 20 matches before that match)

3. PHITSANULOK have been able to secure points, from 3 of their away games, against top half teams (Saraburi, Bangkok FC and Ang Thong). See performance analysis for further details.

4. PHITSANULOK are another one of those ‘bogey’ teams, and they have already beaten us 2-1, in the reverse fixture, earlier in the season.

CONCLUSION : I can see this as being close, and the outcome will depend on who the manager decides is going to play. The fitness of Machuca is worrying, and will Diego be allowed to play, against his former club?

PREDICTION: CMFC 1 PHITSANULOK 1. I hope of course for a CMFC win, but I have a feeling that this could end in a closely fought draw, between two former D2 rivals.
