The Top two teams in division 2 North region clash this week as Chiang Mai FC travel to Phitsanulok, the two teams will face each other twice in the next 3 weeks in what is predicted to be the title deciding series of matches.

Chiang Mai will feel confident going into the game after playing their best football all season last weekend against Lanna rivals Lampang, the Tigers went ahead in the first half with probably the goal of the season by #9 Chatchai Nakvichit, when he struck the ball into the top corner from around the 30 yard mark in the 35th minute. In the second half Chiang Mai played some very fast flowing football and Chatchai Nakvichit added 2 more to his first half strike to score a very good hattrick.

Phitsanulok will be looking for the home advantage to work in their favour and also to put behind them their 1-1 draw last weekend against Lamphun Warrior, a game in which the Violet (not Violent) Army would have expected to win. The Phitsanulok team is mainly made up from Thai’s apart from 2 Cameroonians #20  Biyano Sopse up front and #27 Stephan Arman in defence. The Violet army won this division in 2011 when Chiang Mai were having their disastrous season in division 1 and will be hoping to beat the tigers to this years title after finishing 6 points behind Chiang Mai last season in 2nd.

The game is scheduled for a 6pm kick off on Sunday 27th May 2013 with the second of the two games on the 16th June at Chiang Mai’s 700 year stadium, in between is home and away clashes with Chiang Rai City.
