With the disappointment of last season’s play-off campaign still fresh in the minds of Management, Players and more importantly the fans, Chiang Mai FC start their 2013 campaign on Sunday the 17th of February. The Tigers first game is away at Sukhothai and it’s a game that the Tiger will want to win and win handsomely to get their season off to a flying start.

The New Chiang Mai Fc Manager will hope that with the new signings on show and some of last years better players staying with the Tigers, that the team will fancy their chances against Sukhothai, a team in which Chiang Mai did the double over last term.

Last weekend Chiang Mai played a friendly game against Japanese J-League side Grampus Eight, a team famous for ex-player Gary Lineker and Ex-Manager Arsene Wenger amongst others. The Japanese outfit comfortably won the game 4-0 with Chiang Mai struggling to keep up with the pace and power of their opponents, but the good signs for the Tigers were that the new signings seemed to have a good understanding especially Paraguayan midfielder Angelo Machuca who seemed very happy in a midfield fight and not at all afraid of his 6ft 4in counterpart, this made for a good battle which looked like boiling over before both were substituted by their managers at halftime. I doubt very much that Machuca will have to play against an harder or bigger player for the rest of the season. Last year’s player of the season in my opinion number 27 Toure Ousmane also seemed to be getting ready for the season with some good runs down the wing. His partnership with last year’s number 24 this year’s number 7 Amoah looks like it is set to continue from last season. Another new signing defender Samuel Lamtey looked solid at the back in the second half after his appearance as substitute, but against such superior opposition it was hard to judge completely how the side will cope in the regional 2 league, but from what I saw they should be in a very good frame of mind to win the league and hopefully this year complete the job by winning the play-offs.

With Paknampo NRSU moving leagues this year it only leaves 16 teams rather than last year’s 17, so a total of 30 games with the top 2 teams guaranteed the play-offs.

Season tickets for this year are now on sale at the CMFC Academy and also Chang Klan road shop, they are priced at 1400thb for all areas, this price includes a team shirt of your choice either home or away, this year’s flag and pendant, and also a VIP parking sticker for a car or a motorbike for parking on match days.

On the site now we have a gallery for fans photo’s if you would like to send in your photos for the gallery please send them to richard@chiangmaifootballclub.com and I’ll try and put as many of those on as possible.
