Chiang Mai started their play-off campaign with a disappointing away defeat at Rayong last Sunday.

The tigers were 2-0 down at half time and then an early goal in the first 5 minutes of the second half left the tigers 3-0 down with a mountain to climb. Hope was given to them in the 57th minute an header by Aliou Shek made it 3-1 and a come back looked on the cards in the 62nd minute when after a bad challenge in the penalty area Chiang Mai were given the penalty which also resulted in Rayongs Number 3 been given his second yellow card and dismissed from the field. The penalty was initially missed by Chiang Mai’s captain Anucha Chaiwong but he held his nerve to put home the rebound to make the score 3-2. The comeback couldn’t be completed though which left Chiang Mai pointless after the first game.

Chiang Mai’s opponents this week at the 700 year stadium also lost their first game last week, losing 2-0 at Thai Honda, So Sisaket Utd will also be looking to kick off their play-off challenge. The team who finished just a point behind Ro-Et in the regular season in the North-East league will be a difficult opponent and with all the teams seeing Chiang Mai as the favourite to be promoted they will no doubt be coming here hoping for a shock result.

The game will be played on Saturday the 13th October with a kick off at 6 pm, as usual drinks and merchandise will be available outside the ground before kick-off.
