Things to Do When CMFC are Not Playing

Posted by Melissa E Categories: Other Sport

We here at the Chiang Mai F.C. Fanzine are all-inclusive when it comes to sport. With that in mind, we want to let you know about an event happening in Chiang Mai all this week – the 24th annual Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes Tournament.

Sunday 3 April 2011 was the first day of tournament play. 32 teams from around the world are duking it out all week at the historic Gymkhana Club in Mueang Chiang Mai, leading up to the semifinals and tournament finals on Saturday 9 April. In addition to the main tournament, there are also women’s and juniors competitions. (I hear the local kids are pretty good!) More information about all matches, as well as nightly social events, can be found on the Sixes website.

The cricket sixes are abbreviated matches and are played in pairs, so there is never a break in the action. Food and drink are available on the grounds. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the summer which has finally decided to make its appearance, or just want to get an early jump on Songkran (I saw a slip ‘n’ slide in use at the tournament yesterday), come on down anytime this week from 09:30 to 17:00 and support a team from your home country!
